One of the problems with tourist traps, is price inflation. I mean for god's sake outside the castle in Osaka street vendors will sell you a small plate of takoyaki for 1000 yen.
But luckily for us cheapos, there are alternative restaurants that won't break the bank from one meal.
One of these places is Tuna Isuke, a personal favorite of mine, and one of the first restaurants I visited on my first trip to Japan.
Let me tell you all about it, and how you can get there!
The Food:

Although when you go to Tsukiji you typically think sushi, there are actually tons of different food options available. At Tuna Isuke, my favorite dish here was the shrimp tempura bowl.
I'm sure many of you have had tempura before, but let me assure you...
You've never had tempura.
The difference between tempura I've had in the United States and Tempura I've had in Japan is like the difference between night and day. The batter was so crispy and crunchy, the shrimp so flavorful and fresh, and the sauce.. OH THE SAUCE simply divine.
But the tempura isn't the best thing on their menu, oh no. No. No. No.
The best thing on their menu is of course their tuna!
Here at Tuna Isuke, the tuna is prepared as sashimi. What is sashimi?

Sashimi, just like suhi, is a raw fish dish only it isn't molded into the iconic shape many of you are familiar with. Instead, it is sliced thinly and presented more like a steak that's been sliced into pieces. Pictured above is a chirashi-don, which is basically a sashimi rice bowl.
If you are taking a trip to Japan, be sure to give it a try! The freshness of the sashimi, and the way it just melts in your mouth is something everyone should try at least once. Even if you don't like sushi, this dish will have the power to change your mind.
Each set meal here is about 1300 Yen or about $13 USD. For what you pay, this place does NOT disappoint.
They do have cheaper menu options as well, but I opted for the set meals because I was one hungry boy.
The Location:

From Tsukiji Station (Tokyo Metro), you want to come out of exit 1 or exit 2. From the exit, immediately walk straight and take the first left at a four way intersection.
About 200 meters down, and you should see this ramen shop on your left.

When you see the ramen shop, make a right and walk about another 100 meters. Tuna Isuke will be on your right!

Address: 6-22-3 Tsukiji, Chuo 104-0045, Tokyo Prefecture
Well travelers, I hope that was a fun read. Although, this restaurant is off the beaten path in Tsukiji, I'm glad I stumbled upon it. I hope that on your next trip to Japan you have the time to check it out!
